Here's how we're kicking off the summer at YCJ
With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to affect our daily lives, we’ve been working hard to move our programs to an online format. Thanks to the work of our staff, local supporters, and community partnerships, we will be hosting several virtual camps and other virtual programs throughout the summer.
Below, you’ll see a list of available camps or programs with open registration. We will be announcing more opportunities in the coming weeks. If you’d like an email when those camps become available, sign up for our newsletter.
Coding with the Spurs: Run in partnership with Spurs Give, this program will go through the month of June. Each week, a new coding activity will be available on the Spurs Give website and YCJ instructors will host a live session to help students with the activity. This event is free and open to students age 5 and up. Learn more.
Celebrating Our Community: Co-run with Promesa Academy Charter School and funded by a grant from the San Antonio Area Foundation’s COVD-19 Response Fund, this program is open to K-2 students. We will focus on the importance of celebrating differences and understanding what we have in common. Students will interview three individuals who are doing incredible things to help others in our community. They will then create pages (using pictures, video, and voice recordings) of an e-book that will be put together to celebrate our community. Learn more and register.
Code for the Future: Gratitude Project: We’ve partnered with Palo Alto College to bring a new virtual camp experience to San Antonio students. The Gratitude Project will actually be split into two camps: one for students in grades K-2 and one for students in grades 6-8. Students in both sections will learn about the work individuals are doing to help the community. (Note: Registration closes on Wednesday, June 10). Learn more and register.
