Youth Code Jam seeks kid-driven solutions to coronavirus challenges

Over 230 students from 13 states and 54 cities participated in the country’s first virtual hackathon for students in grades K through 12. Texas-based nonprofit Youth Code Jam launched the virtual hackathon, wecanjam.org, as a way to inspire young learners to design creative solutions to challenges caused by the coronavirus lockdown.

Creative solutions presented by students included games to keep kids busy to a virtual farmers market.

With support from Google Fiber, registration was free and included great prizes like Xbox Bundles donated by Microsoft, Raspberry Pi’s, Merge VR cubes and other cool tech.

Winners will be announced April 30.
